Welcome
Welcome to BlackSuns Studio Gallery, where we create one of a kind, original art pieces for a cause. Everyone can help Mother Nature and the global threat in their own way, and this is our attempt to contribute. BlackSuns specializes in statement pieces utilizing repurposed materials to produce sculptings, paintings, industrial art furniture, jewelry, hot rod and motorcycle accessories, lighting and more. We use reclaimed wood, metal, copper, brass, carbon steel, glass, stone and recycled industrial parts.
We feel overconsumption is at the heart of wildlife habitat loss and the imminent extinction of wildlife; the oceans suffocating from plastics, inhospitable due to acidification, and depleted of fish and larger sea creatures, and for the poor quality of the air we breath. As an example, IKEA and its fast furniture model are one of the largest consumers of wood in the world and most of that wood is unethically sourced and threatens wildlife habitat, as does the destructive forests practices of our home province, British Columbia, whose government allows logging practices that endanger almost 2000 species at risk for the benefit of very few greedy corporations. Fast fashion companies like Zara, as well as the electronic and packaging industries, etc. are key contributors to the plastics in our oceans and landfills. It is our mission at BlackSuns to utilize these repurposed materials in statement pieces to bring attention to the reality and repercussions of overconsumption through education and awareness.
Profits are donated to independent organizations we align with. We are not here to profit financially. Our mission is to spread the word that we can all help in our own way. BlackSuns accomplishes this through educational thought-provoking art shows, auctions, mini town hall meetings and networking events.
The founder of BlackSuns studio is also the founder of Stop Animal Brutality and co-founder of Unlikely Allies, which is comprised of professional individual groups from conservation, animal rights, hunting, and wildlife viewing. These groups have historically been at odds with each other over wildlife usage and management, but have put aside their differences and come together specifically to advocate for improved protection and management of wildlife habitat in British Columbia and the betterment of policy and decision-making concerning habitat management in BC. Profits from BlackSuns sales fund Stop Animal Brutality and Unlikely Allies work.
