We found an amazing antique ranch cowboys all weather rain coat at an antique dealer. Took some time to figure out what to do with it. The all wood frame is hand-crafted, slowly burnt wood with destress engraving. The frame is structurally fabricated as not to twist the frame which could damage the acrylic glass during transport or installation.
The frame has multiple layer sealer to protect the burnt surface under a protected coating. The jacket is mounted to a flat black painted and sanded playwood blackboard that has many rough gloss layers of thick clear glazing, to give a rain effect.
The jacket is cased in a clear acrylic plastic cover panel, held in place with a hand fabricated steel frame, that is gloss clear coated. The corners of the frame are hand crafted copper blacksmithed details. The cowboys head and hands are genuine natural rope, with the head a working proper scale hangman rope noose. The age of the jacket is estimated to be pre -1930, possible late 1800, possible in between; it is hard to exactly place the age. This is a hand crafted work, that is very well built, and structurally rigid. There is a heavy duty metal hanging system mounted to back panel. You can safely hang this 120 lb.; 53"x8 ft.x8" cowboy on a structurally sound wall; Blacksuns will provide you safe installation options once we have details of your installation location. This piece took 60 hrs labour to produce. The " Death of the Rebel" can not be done justice by a photo over the internet. The cowboy becomes an almost living three dimensional ghost.
